One of the biggest mindset shifts I ever made was realizing I didn't have to invent everything to build an online business. For a long time I thought success meant creating the next big thing — a course, an ebook, a membership, some revolutionary product. Then I realized something obvious: I already recommend products to people every single day. If a friend asks me where I got my nails, my favorite tea kettle, a cozy blanket, or the candle on my coffee table — I'm going to tell her. That's just what we do. We share what we love. Affiliate marketing simply allows you to get paid for those recommendations. These holiday glam nails are a perfect example. Someone searching Pinterest isn't looking for an affiliate link — they're looking for inspiration. They're planning a holiday party, a Christmas dinner, or just something beautiful for the season. If these nails inspire them and they want a pair too, why shouldn't the person who introduced them receive a small commission? You're not convincing anyone to buy something they don't want. You're helping them discover something they were already searching for. Pinterest makes this even more powerful because your recommendations don't disappear in 24 hours. A pin can keep helping people discover beautiful products for months or even years. You don't have to manufacture anything. You don't have to manage inventory. You don't have to answer customer support emails. You simply become someone who curates beautiful ideas, helpful products, and inspiring solutions. But here's what most people never tell you: the real secret isn't just Pinterest. It's having somewhere valuable to send that traffic. The biggest mistake I see is people sending every pin to the same destination over and over — or relying entirely on platforms they don't own. That means they're still dependent on someone else's algorithm, someone else's rules, someone else's app. That's why I built Embody Her Journal. Every journal entry, every thought, every podcast episode becomes its own destination — its own unique link I can share on Pinterest. Instead of recycling the same links, I'm constantly creating fresh destinations that belong to me. I don't have to depend on social media to be discovered. I simply create, publish, and let Pinterest connect the right people with the right content. That has completely changed how I think about online business.
